Among Family and Supporters, James Thompson Announces District Listening Tour
Surrounded by a large group of his family and closest supporters, James Thompson, Democratic candidate for Congress, delivered an address announcing a listening tour of Fourth Congressional District delegates.
"I’m not here today just to make a statement, I’m here to make a difference," Thompson said. "I’m here to listen to the Kansans in the Fourth District and represent you as your next Congressman."
He announced he will travel across the Fourth Congressional District to meet with Democratic Party delegates, who will select their nominee next month. Thompson made his announcement at his east Wichita home. Attorney and former Congressional candidate Carlos Nolla introduced Thompson.
"He will bring people together," Nolla said. "I know James. James is a good man. And good people make great leaders."
Thompson, raised in a challenging economic environment but pulled up by his U.S. Army service and Wichita State University education, talked about building opportunities for others in struggling circumstances.
"I grew up in poverty which taught me how hard work and dedication could help get me out of that situation," Thompson said.
Thompson joined the U.S. Army and served in the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington, D.C. He went on to receive a WSU undergraduate degree followed by a law degree from Washburn University.
"I served our country in the US Army and swore to defend our Constitution," Thompson said. "When I joined the bar, I again took an oath to defend our Constitution. I'm running for Congress because I once again want to serve my country and defend its Constitution."
James Thompson is a father, a U.S. Army veteran and civil rights attorney who is running for Congress to make Kansas work for everyone.
