Kansas Veteran James Thompson Bests Estes in Lively Butler County Farm Bureau Debate
Career Politician Estes Receives Laughs Over False Claims
WICHITA, Kan. – James Thompson, Kansas Veteran and candidate for Congress, laid a clear vision to promote working and middle-class prosperity for Fourth District Kansans when sparred with career politician Ron Estes for a rare debate in Augusta, Kan., tonight.
Hosted by Butler County Farm Bureau, more than 250 voters attended the last of the public debates. It was the most attended debate in this election cycle.
"Any reasonable viewer saw tonight Thompson again walking away with another decisive debate victory over Estes," said Stephanie Yeager, a spokeswoman for Thompson. "From discussing protecting our veterans and expanding competition in our healthcare marketplace, to his vision of empowering our rural communities and manufacturers, Thompson owned the room."
Also notable was a growing trend at Estes public appearances.
"Voters should note that in every public debate, false Estes claims have been met with rounds of laughter," Yeager said.
In the debate, Estes claimed before the passage of the Affordable Care Act, there were no major problems in the American healthcare system, eliciting a burst of laughter from the crowd.
"Ron has lived a taxpayer-funded lifestyle for nearly 20 years, and it's clear he's become deeply out of touch with the needs of real Kansans," said Thompson spokeswoman Stephanie Yeager. "There was one candidate on the deis who personally understands the struggles of working and middle class Kansans, and that candidate is clearly James Thompson."
